The Spanish Secretary General of the Justice Administration has organized a two-day conference on 28-29 November 2018 on the development of the digital platform for interconnection and exchange of information e-CODEX, given the ongoing project on adapting the Spanish exchange platform to e-CODEX with respect to European Investigation Orders.
The conference was attended by a delegation from the Netherlands - on behalf of the e-CODEX community.
The first day of the conference took place in the Spanish Ministry of Justice and was attended by the technical staff of the ministry and collaborating tech companies. A presentation of the national solution was followed by a round table discussion on lessons learned, ongoing and potential future issues.
The second day of the event was organized in the premises of the Spanish National High Court where Spanish and Dutch experts presented the e-CODEX concept and its use cases to national magistrates, court officials and other professionals who would soon work with the automated EIOs (implemented by the e-CODEX infrastructure over the national one). The sessions started with welcome addresses by the Secretary General of the Justice Administration and the President of the Spanish National High Court and included presentations on the functionality of the e-CODEX infrastructure and its integration with the national solution. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the International Cooperation Unit within the Spanish General Prosecution Office (the organizational unit that deals with the electronic reception of EIO), the General Council of the Judiciary (Spanish: Consejo General del Poder Judicial - CGPJ), the Center of Juridical Documentation (CENDOJ) and the General Directorate of International Juridical Cooperation.
